In this free choice topic I am going to compare five books, they are
1. Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
2. The count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
3. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
4. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
5. Lord of the Flies by William Golding
If I like to arrange the books from the most interesting to the most uninteresting it will be, 1.The Count of Monte Cristo. 2. Lord of the Flies. 3. Wuthering heights. 4. Pride and Prejudice. 5. Anna Karenina. So Anna Karenina, my independent reading book wasn’t very fun.
Actually above five stories are include the affection part, except Lord of the Flies, there five books are all from different authors, so I am going to analyze their different in the love part of the story.
First, I think the most similar kind of affection are Anna Karenina and the book Pride and Prejudice, although the content are totally different, but their setting are almost same. In the story Anna Karenina the affection things happens in the upper-class society, and the book Pride and Prejudice, too. So it both describes how the upper-class are prides and don’t want to lose their face, sometime when they realize how serious is the problem, they are too late.
Second, I think the book Wuthering Heights is not very relative to the book Anna Karenina, the book The count of Monte Cristo is similar to the book Wuthering Heights, both are talking about the revenge. I feel the book Anna Karenina is not so stimulate like the book Wuthering Heights, Wuthering Heights this book is more terrible than Anna Karenina, their only similar part are girls change their love to other people, so that the boys unhappy.
Third, I like to describe the similar part of the book The count of Monte Cristo and the book Anna Karenina. In the book The count of Monte Cristo, when the main character be framed and goes to the jail, his girlfriend change her mind to other man, and that man was main character’s rival, because she wait for a long time, but the main character doesn’t go out from the jail. This part is similar to the book Anna Karenina in the earlier part of the story, Levin and Vronsky both love Kitty, so their relationship become rival relationship, the difference is Levin doesn’t frame Vronsky, but the similar part are girls, their second lover become her husband, but they both love their first beloved more than the second lover (it is hard to describe).
Fourth I like to describe how similar between the book Lord of the Flies and the book Anna Karenina, some people might be say, it is impossible, because one story is talking about adult’s world, and the book Lord of Flies is talking about children’s world, but I realize that, in the last part of book Lord of the Flies, I remember when the soldier found they on the island, children start caring, because they know how terrible they have done, it is very similar to the story Anna Karenina, when Vronsky realize that his action to flirt Kitty, that Anna very angry and upset, and suicides in the train station on the rail, Vronsky know how terrible he had made, so he is very sad and regret, just like the children on the island, but his choice is different, Vronsky choose to die in the battle.
So, I feel read more book is fun, because I can compare each book’s difference, and I can use the example from the novel to write the article, last advice: don’t choose the book Anna Karenina on the independent reading project, finish eight hundreds in five weeks is impossible, special is in English! If it is in Chinese I can finish in two weeks!
