Questions
I. How did Leo Tolstoy crate this network relationship and character, to telling this story, and how did he describe them?
II. Why Anna Karenina doesn't show up yet, it is already sixteen chapters?
Actually before I found the picture The Social Network of Anna Karenina I was very confusing about the story Anna Karenina, because this book is a big book, and there has a lot of character in it, and the network is very complicated some of character even aren't on this The Social Network of Anna Karenina.
In my opinion I think Leo Tolstoy crate the network and names in many ways because of several reasons. First, I think Leo Tolstoy crated the network by drawing a image or write a detailed list like the picture on the right, I don't believe he can use his head to remember every character and their relationship (but Leo Tolstoy is a literary giant, so maybe), in the story the network is very important, I think the writer spend much time on crate the story's social network. Second, I think Leo Tolstoy crate the network and the names maybe is base on his life experience and historical things. For example; maybe his friend has illegal love affair with another. So, he write this things in his book. Other example perhaps is from his lift experiences, or from the historical things. Third, the names. Leo Tolstoy used the Russian name for this story, I think the reason is he is a Russian, so he use Russian names. So, Tolstoy crate the social network for the story, and crate the names, this is amazing, become a literary giant is not easy!
I start a new paragraph for the question how did he describe them? Because I don't know how to write both things in one paragraph.
Leo Tolstoy describe characters very detailed and explicit, I feel he is different than other author because of several reason. First, he really describe characters very detailed. For example; Tolstoy use four pages to describe Oblonsky, he describe how he is popular, knows how to get along with each other and that thing people want is on he. Second, Tolstoy describe character explicitly, I can see there is a lots different between every character, and the actions Tolstoy also describe very explicitly. For example; Tolstoy describe that Oblonsky knows how to talk to everyone and get into a group, but Levin can't do this kinds of things. Tolstoy describe actions very explicit, too. For instance; he even describe character's meaningful glance and manner of speaking. Third, I feel Leo Tolstoy describe a person's mood is very good, even better than Jack London describe the view. For example; even though Tolstoy write this book is when he almost fifty years old, but he still can describe a young person's mood very explicit, for instance he depict Levin's mood when he is going to make an offer of marriage, it really describe a young man like a girl and he is going to say "I love you"'s mood. So, Leo Tolstoy describe character very detailed, although it makes me really hard to read, but I learn how to describe a character, it is very good.
